Front Pump Seal
Just recently noticed that my F350 starting leaking tranny fluid. So I took it to dealership and my warranty on the replacement tranny that was put in 3 years ago under warranty had expired by 900 miles. Lucky me. So I had them run some dye through it and see if they could tell what my trouble was and they could only tell me that it's either the front pump seal or torque converter causing the leak and they wanted 700 just to pull tranny. Jeez. I usually do all my own work on all my cars but I thought this might be too big of job for me.
Anyone ever done this and do I need any special tools? Lots of room under there so I can do it without a lift and use a floor jack probably.

I've replaced lots of tranny's, but not on a new Superduty. You don't need any 'special' tools to remove or install the tranny. None for the torque converter, I don't think you'll need them for a pump seal either - but wait for another answer on that one.

I've replaced front pump seals and torque converters but not on a tranny that heavy. It isn't too challenging mechanically. I would recommend all day to do it, two strong buddies to help, and a transmission jack if you can get one. These transmissions are so heavy and awkward, a regular floor jack could be a PITA.
