Does anyone know what the auto transmisson gear ratios are for the 7.3 Diesel and the newer 5 speed Torqshift?
Trying to determine which rearend to go with on next pickup 3.73 or 4.10's compared to existing data, i.e. - 2000 7.3 auto with 4.10's, 50 hp chip, ample power, mileage stinks after 70 mph.
Thanks for the link, it is what I needed to answer my question.
Looks like I need to drive a Torqshift to see how it acts, where it shifts mph vs rpm's.
My gut tells me to go with the 3.73's and add a chip to a 6.0 get same power as above truck and better mileage unhooked. Lite loads (4 snowmobiles on open trailer) should be better mileage on the 16 hour sprints out west? Above truck averaged around 9-10 until you get past 70-75 drops off 1-2 mpg's easy.
Any experience with pulling lite/heavy with the different axle ratio's
With winter blend, 20 degrees, 4 sleds, and 75 mph, we only get 8-9 best. Summer, 12-15K pound trailer 8-10 mpg best, just depends on how fast you are going.
P.S 2004 Cummins with 6 speed, Quad cab, 4.10's get's the same mileage over 70 mph.
drw has 2 ratios available, since the "tow commander" option came out, you can now get a 4.30 for a dually..........i was incorrect about the 3.73 being available with the drw, woops.
still, the srw has a 3.73 with a 6.0........no 4.10, no 4.30, and no 4.56
