'89 E350 Motorhome Performance

I just purchased my dad's '89 ClassC motorhome. It is an E350 cutaway with the 460. I am wondering if there are any good performance modifications that I could make before this camping season. I am looking for a little more power and possibly improving fuel efficency. The exhaust has been replaced with 3" a couple of years ago. The intake looks like it could be improved by making a cold air setup for it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Erik

Looks like BBK makes a performance throttle body for the 460. http://performance.drivewire.com/getparts/index.aspx?pdef=Throttle%20Body|Ford|MOTORHOME|198 9|CLASS%20C;%20E-350|||||Air%20Intake

anyone have any experience with these?

If it has the original exhaust manifolds on it, check to see if all the heads of each bolt are still on the manifold. These manifolds warp, crack and break bolts regularly on these engines. I have 95 E-350 Jayco motorhome. I put a Banks on it. I started hearing a tick tick tick which tipped me off to an exhaust leak and broken bolt. I wa getting 10 mpg before the Banks but can get 11.4 now if I keep my foot out of it.

T18skyguy, Is your Jayco a 1995 chassis with 1996 coach? I have a "Eagle" 23ft. Were you getting 10mpg with the stock 460?

The best way in a Banks kit. Headers being the most important part of them.
