When I turn right my signal lever does not hold, but it works when going left? Any idea why and where can I get a replacement? I have searched but unable ot find? Any advice on how to repair?
I have the same problem with my 90 F250 i just bought. I can hold it and the right turn signal will work but not lock and it works fine to the left. Anybody have any info on this or ever have this problem?
There is a piece of plastic broken off on the switch inside, you need to replace it. You can get them at any of the usual places, auto parts store, dealer or salvage yard should have them.
My original turn signal was solid, it was set up correctly, I forget why I replaced it and how to do it.
The aftermarket switch I put in there is too sensitive, I have been holding the lever on alot of my turns. I have to remember to get my steering wheel straight before I stop and signal for a turn. I am guessing it is an aftermarket part problem.
I also hate the aftermarket switch, way more sensitive than the original. But when the junk yard wants to sell the whole column only I couldn't find a reason not to buy just the swich.
There is a Ford turn signal cam in the Help! parts section of auto stores, but DO NOT buy it!! Users here warned me of this, but I figured by now it would be better and the right size. I was wrong - the plastic stops that hold the signal when you're waiting to turn don't catch, so you have to hold it to keep the signal blinking. I bought the whole turn signal switch at Autozone for $45, took about an hour to do.
Well thanks to this forum i tackled fixing my turn signal swith this weekend. Didn't go to bad had to take a lot more stuff apart than what the instructions said. took me about 2 hours friday afternoon, some cussing, and a beer but got everything back together.
