Yes truck runs. I been driving it for about 20 years now.Put a turn signal switch in maybe 7 years after I bought it. About a year ago I was checking lights & noticed a clicking sound under the hood when checking turn sinals. Finaly convinced myself it was coming from dist. I have looked into the wiring on the truck a few times but have yet to find anything odd.The amp meter doesn't work any more also. Had some wires fry a long time back & just run without it. Had to replace some wires that got fried in that one. Finaly found a dash that fits the wireing harness on this truck & installed it & fried the amp meter on it also. So back to no meter. Thinking maybe time for a new complete harness. If you need more info just ask.
Thank you Rusty

Make sure you have a ground wire going from a bellhousing or intake manifold bolt to the firewall. This is left off sometimes if the engine or tranny has been pulled for service.
The only other possiblity is during the meltdown, some wires that are bundled together melted together, crossing some of the circuits up.
I would be curious if you left the signal on, and turned the truck off, would the engine run, and then stall, run and then stall with the turnsignal. If it does, I would suspect some melted crossed up wires. If it doesn't, I would lean more to a grounding problem.
