ive done it. it depends on wether or not youre removing the turbo or trying to do it with the turbo in. either way, most want to have plenty of thick moving blankets to lay on. ive removed the turbo three times, without having any padding or anything. "spry".
if youre going to be removing it, MAKE SURE you have new replacement o-rings for the pedestal.
its not "hard" to do, its just time consuming.
well I think I will do the ww first since I got that coming first. what about doing both isthat recomended or not?
Some folks run both because they like the WW sound. The stock wheel moves more air and still generates a good whistle when u have a really opened up air induction/exhaust system.
Nut
I have the kwikk filter and 5" exhaust and I love the new sounds that it makes but I really like the jet airplane sound I heard on a psd the other day I just couldnt catch up to ask him what he was running sounded really cool I hope to get that sound out of my psd.
I am running no muffler either maybe it sounds like its going down a runway better than I think it just has that deep soundin the cab not the high pitched whistle like I heard from his

Have you heard you truck being driven from outside? I had one of the guys that works for me run up the road so I can hear it. I had no idea it sounded like it did. It's all whistle and I haven't touched the turbo...yet. You may already have that sound and just don't know it.
As for the WW. No, I haven't done it yet. I don't know when I'll have the time for a while. If you do it first, let me know.
my ww is coming tomorrow and I hope to do it this weekend but yes I will have to have someone drive my truck up the road so I can hear what it sounds like beforeI do the ww so I can have something to compar to after I do it thanks for your help Geoff
To be honest, Nut, I'm not bad mechanically. I can do most anything and if I can't, I'll ask how. But, since coming on to this site, I've learned so much about these trucks and these motors that the knowledge gained is amazing. I don't think I've ever been so confident with any other vehicle I've owned. And I've had a lot!
My wife gets pissed at me for being on here sometimes. I always remind her that the **** is only a few clicks away...
LOL
Same here, I didn't know much about my X when I bought it. In fact, when I joined this forum back in '03 I was thinking about selling it for something else! Since I've been here reading for almost three years now, I realize what I've got and I'm not letting it go for anything. You're right Geoff, a diesel makes one hell of a difference!
