I have been having trouble with my 86 f-150 (302, efi) randomly stop running, acting as if it is out of gas. I can usually get it re-started in 10-20 min. I have checked the pumps (tank and HP) when at home and all seems to be fine. I was talking to a mechanic yesterday and he said that sometimes if the filter in the selector valve is clogged, the HP pump will get hot and shut itself off. I changed the filter (thanks to the posters who told me where it was and how to change it ) and have had no trouble today (fingers crossed).
Has anyone heard of this phemomena before? If not, what could be the other possible causes? There seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it stops running. It does have a new control module, so I don't think that is the problem.
