what do you guys have for the loudest STREET LEAGAL, setup for a 150 with the inline 300? im just lookin at cads and mufflers. i had it running with no muffler and it wasnt that loud, i have a flowmaster 30 series on it which is ok if your workin the engine, so i can do custom pipe work but what about the cad and mufflers?
its a 94, reg cab, long bed. all ive done it a flowmaster 30 series muffler right after the stock cad with a right angle out the side infront of the rear wheel
my 82 f100 has 2 1/4 inch straight pipe of the manifold, with a 45 degree bend before the axle and a three and a half inch chrome tip that exits in front of the rear tire, it has a nice rumble to it. the pipe is stainless steel fence post if that matters.
if you want really loud why not bend up six zoomies and run them straight out the hood.
I believe that if you want a good rumble you could cut the cat of and run split duals. These trucks aready have split manifolds on them and the pipes come together in the first cat. I have heard these trucks with no muffler and they are not very load. The 30 series muffler is probably not needed. I would Get rid of the cats and have true duals run all the way out the back with at least 2 in pipe and tips. 3 IN tips give the trucks a good rumble idealing. 3 1/2 would do even better. My old truck had 2 in all the way out the back and it would pop and crackle when I backed of the gas. I put the 3 in tips on and it gave it more of a rumble and it still poped a little bit but not as loud. The rumble sounded great around 2200 rpms.
Big pipes no mufflers.
I have a dual outlet header, with dual dynomax mufflers, both pipes exit in front of the rear tire on my longbox, I think it sounds great, and its pretty loud.
yea, but street leagal? cant the cops tell if your missin some thing? with the fumes commin out? see i do wantsound but i wanna keep it so if i go back to get emissions done to it, they will pass it
have you found anything yet. i got something that will suit you just fine but only if you can find another muffler like mine. i have not been able to find one. it came on a truck i bought with a 302 and it was wicked on that. it is a single 3 inch inlet into a 2 1/2 dual outlet with pass. sidepipes that exit at the rear of the cab. no cat since it is an 81. i have a clip with the motor stock and log exhaust manifold. it sounds a lot different with the efi manifolds now. http://exhaustsoundclips.com/phpbb2/...=2&file_id=251
Duals is not the way to go IMO, BTDT and I ended up adding an X pipe which helped the sound quite a bit.
Go with a walker downpipe into 3" tube all the way out, mufflers and cats optional. Whether or not you are legal is usually dependent on the attitude of your local Law Enforcement.
My truck is very loud but it doesn't draw a second glance locally.
You can always go w/ Mechanical Exhauste Cut-outs welded into the Pipes just in front of the Mufflers, this method should give you th Leve of Noise you are seeking.
And as far as Running Duals go, That's what I have, they sound just fine & the Wife even appreciates the way the "Wee Beastie" sounds w/ them.

i am in the process of new exhaust...at the moment, i have the two man's y'ed together into a 2.5" pipe dumped at the rear axle...no cats no muffler. it is kinda loud and sounds good. i am going to fab up a glasspack this weekend just for fun to see how it turns out.

I use to have a 2 in straight pipe with a glass pack on the end at the axle and I didn't like the sound of it. When the glass pack was new it was too quite and it sounded like a rice burner. I am much happier with my y'ed off duals with 3 in tips. and no muffler. I ran 2 '' all the way to the tips. I Toke a pipe that was ment to go over the axle that I had lying around and cut the bend to fit my truck. I toke a long piece of 2 in galvanized plumbing pipe for my y pipe. I used a pipe bender with a hydrolic pump to start the bend but it wouldn't bend to the angle I wanted so we stuck the pipe in my home made reese hitch and pried on it with really long cheater pipes. The y pipe wedged between the ball hitch and a flat plate that comes down from the bumper for my drop. Worked nicely. My tips are 24 '' long and 3'' round. They come out right under the bumper mounting bolts at a 45 degree angle. I love the way it looks and sounds. I plan to take some pics to put on my gallery
