Thanks Josh and Mark of DPPI. My chrome tow hooks were at my door this afternoon. I'll install them in the morning and get some pictures posted. Thanks for the quick delivery and outstanding service.
I called DPPI a couple of days ago and they shot me a price and stated that there was also a $40 core charge until my tow hooks were returned? I thought DPPI wasn't chroming hooks anymore and if they are not, why do they need my stock ones? I'm not sure who it was I spoke with, but they had to ask someone else if the hooks were available. Did I just get the wrong person on the phone??
Gary, I spoke to Josh and that was the option (core swap) he quoted me first. I read him the email from Mark in this thread. He agreed to the price without the core swap.
Thanks, I called again, explained what was going on and mentioned Josh's name. The person I spoke with went and spoke with Josh and my chrome tow hooks are on their way without the core charge and at a lower cost than when I originally called!
My second day as a forum member and I've already saved money and headache.
Everyone else -- better get your chrome tow hooks from DPPI while they last!
Hey sorry for the mix up, got some folks on vacation this week and it's been pretty hectic etc. Just to clarify there is NO core charge while our supply lasts on the triple plated tow hooks!!
I installed my new DPPI tow hooks over the weekend. Even though I had to get some new bolts (existing ones were too short for the new tow hooks), the installation was easy. I just used an extention on a rachet wrench and unbolted the three bolts on each hook from beneath the front bumper.
The new chrome tow hooks look great! Thanks to Josh and Mark at DPPI.
Aren't the tow hooks from DPPI just the standard tow hooks chromed? Are the bolts so close on length that the thickness of the chroming is enough to make them too short?
Mine are on order, but I intend to fabricate a bracket to extend them outward a few inches when I install (so I can use them as steps as another member indicated they had done).
The new tow hooks I received from DPPI were a bit different than the existing tow hooks on my 06 F350. The new chrome hooks had a nut welded to the top of each bolt hole. There was no thread inside the bolt hole as it was supplied by the nut on top of the tow hook. My existing tow hooks had the bolt thread inside the bolt hole. The new tow hooks were a different part number from the existing hooks. All of the bolt holes lined up properly.
I called Josh at DPPI and he informed me that this was probably due to a year to year change from FMC. He no longer had the extended bolts instock so I just went down to the hardware store and got six 3 inch 10 mm standard thread bolts (I took along an existing bolt and tow hook to ensure fitment). Came back home and less than ten minutes later the new chrome hooks were installed. They look great!
Bear6522, my new tow hooks were the same. Picking up the needed hardware slowed me down a bit, but it wasn't a big deal. I put them on over the weekend and they look great!
