Help with a 215 engine

As I was mentioning in another post, I found a 215 engine. It's out of a '53 station wagon. It was a good running engine before it was pulled about a year ago. The car had close to 100k miles. The current owner stated that he bought the car in Ventura a few years ago and drove it home to Los Olivos without any problems. He drove it around for a year or so and then replaced it with a 302.

He's now selling the engine and 3 speed tranny, plus some radiators from the '53 wagon. I checked out the engine while on my way home from SoCal.

The engine is definitely a 215. The motor mounts are on the side. The timing chain cover doesn't have any motor mounts. I know that the '52 engine mounts were cast into the timing chain cover. I do have a spare '52 215 at home with a timing chain cover that works. However, is it safe to assume that I can interchange the timing chain covers to make this engine work in my truck? I'm assuming that that is correct. Any ideas??

I'm planning on buying the engine and drop it in after replacing most of the gaskets. However, my decision is based on the timing chain cover interchange. Also, does anyone know if my truck's 3 speed tranny can be bolted on directly to the existing bellhousing that clutch?? Additionally, are the tranny's the same??

I need to know asap so I can give the seller an answer.

Thanks, Ilya

Here's some intel from Ford 6 I.D. & everything for both modles should bolt right up.

215 (3.5L):
1952-1953
bore 3.56 X stroke 3.6
Chain driven cam, distributor in center right of block, 2 nuts holding down valve cover
Found in light trucks, cars, tractors & industrial applications (?)
A few were used in the Funk 2N, 8N, & 9N tractor conversions.
Painted light (ford?) green
Door codes; trucks: D (cars as well?)
Extra info: - The trucks 215s were painted a light green and were known as the "Cost Clipper Six." It was rated at 101hp @ 3500 rpm (91hp @ 3400 for trucks). For its time it had a very hot cam, intake opens at 18*BTC and closes at 68*ATC with a duration of 276* and the exhaust open at 55* BBC and closes at 22*ATC with a duration of 267*
- Another difference from '52 to '53 was the timing cover plate. The motor mounts are cast into it.
