this is not a good thing . gear 1 feels normal, shifts ok into 2nd then tranny holds off shifting to 3rd untill i ease off throttle a bit.
i feel it shift to 3rd but just slips like being in neutral.
IF I GIVE any more throttle 2nd is back instantly, with seemingly normal hook up.
also no engine braking in 2nd just 1st.
fluid is clean and bright, but full of bubbles- foamy?? cant get accurate level reading.
any input, advice, tips, ideas, would really help.
anybody have one? or a source for good used or reman/rebuilt that won't have me

You might want to check your tv cable. I have a 93 F-150, 302, and AOD that lost reverse. Went to O'reilly's and got a rebuilt AOD for about $800 bucks and swapped it out in about 3 to 4 hours.
Man it sounds like its a roasted tranny but It might be bad cabling as well. For reman tranny. do you want to keep auto? or do you want to get a 5 speed?
i would like to keep the automatic, but...i do haul my work tools & equipment in 3 boxes constantly. the load isn't maxing out the suspension. but it is a load.
all research i have done seems to point out the aod is not the work horse that we would all like. atleast in stock form.
the big $ $ $ for a tricked out aod might be better spent swap to: (1). 5 speed ?
i have'nt thought of it any input ???? (2). c-6 transmission? is this a possible ???
(3). keep replacing aod. (4). buy a used beater work truck ? "oh no" what am i thinking ! ! !
i did buy the haynes "ford transmission" step by step overhaul manual.. read it and
feel semi-confident i could give it a try.. ( is this a good idea or bad) ? ? ??
feel free to give me thought , opinions , help , or some good laughs !!!!
thanks,
toe
i did the tv cable adjustment asper haynes manual.
that did make the 1st. to 2nd. shift slightly later. but sadly still no response from the 3rd or od.
did the o'reilly trans include any upgrades to weak spots in the aod ????
or rebuilt as stock??
No the O'reilly tranny is all stock. The only thing bad I have to say with it was that Ford has several different AOD's. I had to take the tail housing off my old one to use on the new one. Because it was longer then the new one. And also I had a different shifter arm. So I had to take the pan and filter off to change out shifter arms. Other then that I have been running it for over 2 years now with no trouble.
