I have a 1999 Ford F-150 It has the 5.4 V8. I'm having a problem with the #30 Fuse the one on the fuse panle on the drivers side under the dash. It runs the Ignition Coils and a few other things. But the problem i am haveing is it keeps popping. I had a remote car stater on the truck but it is totally removed. The people that installed the car starter said they had a mechanic look at it and they norrowed it down to the clock spring. My mechanic looked at the clock spring took it out and put a new one in and the fuse still pops. My mechanic has had the truck for two days. He has the whole dash torn out. He cant seem to find the problem. He replaced the fuse box itself but the fuse still pops. He is now to the point of tracing wires. Any ideas from anyone what would casue this. I'm trying to narrow things down?? HELP PLEASE!!
Have him check the two RFI capacitors and their wires/connectors. There is one on each bank. They have been know to short out and will cause your exact symptom. That feed also goes to each of the 8 COPS so a wiring fault there could also cause it.
Seems I had previously pointed out that this circuit didn't go anywhere near the clockspring...

good advice above.....other than that your down to using a multimeter tracing wires then replaceign them.....i went throught the same type of problem with my speed sensor and O2 sensors....pain in the A$$!!!
Turns out the people that installed the car starter broke the gear shift indicator and tried to "jurry" rig it back together and in the process they drilled 4 holes in fuse block and put 4 screws in those holes. They did all this to fix a problem and caused a huge one. $800 to get it fixed by the time the mechanic found it he had alot of hours working on the truck so it was a big bill hopefully i can hit the people who installed the starter up for some cash!! Thanks for all of the help
