How Long Should I Wait
Late 2004 to late 2005 about a 14 month range there should be several threads on the subject.
Short answer...get a lot of driving cycles done where the motor gets up to operating temp and then the cool down is back to ambient air temp.
Between 500 1000 miles change the engine oil and filter and stick with the MC 5W20 oil and FL820s filter. You can hitch up the 5er and do a trip but for the first trip still spend the first 100 miles running the RPMS at different ranges. After that use you truck like any other truck empty or very heavy and don't worry about the power train.
No the diffs do not need the fluid changes after break in. Won't hurt but not worth the expense. The fluid in your rear diff is 75W140 and if it is a limited slip LS unit, there is a few ounces of a friction modifier in it. Most techs either forget to add, or add too much of the modifier...
Several threads in here or up in the SuperDuty form on the different ways to get the LS unit working correctly with the friction modifier.
Welcome to the BSEG club...you are going to love that truck!
As for break in , I followed Fred's advice and my truck uses no oil at all. I change at 3000 miles and the dipstick level has not moved. This is mind boggling to me because all my other 8 Ford trucks, gas and diesel, all used oil when worked hard and I had come to expect this. Last spring, weighing in at 11000 pounds with my slide in camper on , I put almost 800 miles on one day on my V10, running hard and fast. Next morning I pulled that dipstick and my jaw dropped. Oil was clean and had not moved. I always start out on a trip with new oil and all my other trucks would have taken up to a quart after a run like that. I always keep the oil topped up on a trip and I had my funnel and quart of MC 5-20 ready to go.
Yet you will read so many posts from people that claim a 20 weight oil can not protect a hard working engine. Yes these wizards know more than the genius Honda that has become the world's largest engine producer and he did it by building an engine that lasts. Lots of very high mileage Civics and Accords using 20 weight oil and the 4 banger Hondas live at high revs. I know, I have one.
Anyway, off my oil weight soap box and back on track, the best of luck with your new V10. I wish you many happy trouble free miles.
the rears come factory filled with a full syntec 75w140 and do not need serviceing till the book states or at your own wishes . i would at 20k if it was my own and i towed a 5er a lot. best is going by the book. maybe cutting it in half if you feel you want to .

I beat the crap out of my '96 t-bird's 4.6L and even ran it 7000 miles between oil changes at around 10K miles. It's still going strong with enough hours on it to more than equal 120K miles... (odometer says 60K).
And it doesn't use any oil.
Oh,back to the V10... I changed my oil at around 500 miles, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, etc. But that's way overkill ...
