What is Bullet proofing?

"Bullet Proof" is a process, but it also refers to a company out of Arizona, Bullet Proof Diesel.
The most common candidate for "Bullet Proofing" is the 6.0, but the now common term has extended to 6.4's and 6.7's. On the 6.0, it normally includes replacement of the "stretch" head bolts with ARP (or the like) head studs, a redesigned or deleted EGR cooler along with a new oil cooler, a change in coolant type to ELC type as well as a coolant filter to capture the casting sand that stays for years and miles after in the block.
On the 6.4, the system is a different animal, but there are certainly some POTENTIAL challenges around the EGR coolers and if you're adding power, possibly the head studs.
Keep power closer to stock, change the oil OFTEN with quality synthetic, run ELC coolant and you should be in pretty good shape.

Additionally, it's a way to excite the negative Nellys in your town.
The help of a tuner makes me pass inspection everyone as long as they don't look under the truck and notice the cat fell off. If they do happen to notice like the guy that did me...go somewhere else and get the sticker.
Like said above, it's mainly a term for us 6 leaker owners. For the 6.4 it's mainly whether is can resist a .308 round or not. No one has reported their findings as of yet.

What's a warranty? That ship has long since sailed. I know I have wanted to test my bullet proofing many times, 12 gauge or .556 style. We have a love-hate relationship.

Sort of like a much smaller and simpler version of what Volkswagen did?

HA and what's an "emissions test"? Must be something the Kommunist Amerikans on the coasts have to deal with. My last state inspection I spent 20 minutes arguing with the guy about how much the 6.0 could hold before it needed studs, no mention of the EGR cooler being absent even though he apparently notices the TTY bolts still in there
