97 expy rough idle

My wifes expy is idling rough but has as its power when we take off. The trucks code reads that both banks are running lean. Already replaced the fuel filter my next guess is the injectors but dont know. Anybody have any other suggestions?

There are a few things you need to probably replace/look at.

PCV Valve (just replace it), EGR Valve (replace it) and the EGR Pressure Sensor (replace it).

I had the same problem with my '98 and these did the trick. It'll cost you $60 to replace them all, but you'll save a couple of hundred from taking it to the shop.

$60 in parts? I priced the pressure sensor at $54 at advance auto. Where can I get these cheaper?

I have purchased most of my parts from www.rockauto.com

The Motorcraft EGR valve is $36.99, Pressure Feedback Sensor is $25.79 and PCV Valve is $1.36. (At least for my '98 4.6L)

After looking into what it would take for you, the whole thing is going to run around $90 for the whole shbang. The EGR Valve for the 5.4L is a little pricey at $60, but the Sensor is still the same price.

would the egr stuff also make the gas mileage take a small dump as well?

It very well can. I can't say it is hugely significant, but at what, $2.35 a gallon any little bit helps. It will help you at least 1, maybe 2 MPG.

Drop in mpg=O2 sensors. At least it did in mine. Also rough idle same. If it's a 97, you could be long overdue for those things. Bank running lean also symptomatic of the upstream O2 sensors. Good luck.
