I posted this as a joke, you know a funny? instead it has turned into another bashing/augueing thread. It was meant to poke some fun at certain owners of these cars.
Geez don't some people have a sense of humor here?
I have four girls and three of them drive Focus's and one has a ZX2(Escort). The first Focus bought was an 01 SE and it was so trble free my other girl bought an 03 ZX3 and it has been back to the dealer one time for the 6 cd changer. Last spring my other girl who drove 71 Mustang cpe for 9 years (mine) bought a used 05 ZX3 from our local dealer and it hasn't had any problems at all. Needless to say I am a Focus fan. We've put about 50,000 on the ZX2 5sp and only thing I've done to it is normal mtnce. Brakes, spark plugs.
The poster that drives one 250 miles every day is correct about toughness of these little cars.
I'll stick to my 97F250hd 7.5 4X4 though
Ford can build trucks but thier cars are a little on the stinky side. The Focus is a cheap feeling car that lacks in power and mpg. Give me yota or honda over a Ford car anyday. As far as being "owned" by a focus anything is possible when you mod it but I have yet to see a small Ford car be the best in the Chicago-Milwuakee area for any type of street racing. Personally I think money spent on a new Ford car is wasted money.
You talking about my Baby? Wow! I believe my car is anything but cheap. It has a GREAT ride (except a little road noise), gets great MPG (around 25 city and 32 Highway) and is built by an American/Canadian company.
And the thing in my signature is a joke. I put it there for fun. It is not serious. I KNOW Ray (F2504x4) posted this thread as a joke (towards me mostly) and thought it was funny.
Hey, at least it is a FORD...this is Ford Enthusiast site you know? Sure, it is not a truck but it is a Ford...
Who turns this post into an arguement? omg...wow
the ford focus is a typical ricer. Weather or not its american. Put a can muffler on a honda civic, and on a ford focus. Then you will see just what i mean by its just another ricer. As for better engines, i think ford made just as good engine as a imports engine....its a 4 cylinder, and it runs, what the hell do you mean by better engine?
And a little FYI for the person(s) here who dis on ford cars, i do beleave the the ford escort is one of the best leading rally cars....i wonder why

You sir must be the one kidding! I didn't say that anything was "crappy" about it but if you think it's the better choice of the small cars out there then you are blinded by loyalty. I'll stick to 35-40 mpg cars with better engines, wider aftermarket and a way better residual. Battling with a blinded man will get you nowhere so I'll just stay out of your way.........
I am not sure about the US Focus, but the one sold in Australia beats both the Toyota Corolla and the the Honda Civic with a higher Customer Satisfaction and lower TGW (Things Gone Wrong)....
As for higher residuals, we have the same thing here, all the more reason to save a lot of coin on buying a 2-3year old model
Blinded by loyalty I am not, the Civic and the Corolla are both good cars, but having driven both of them, and having 2 Foci for work cars I know which one handles better, has more mid range torque and has cheaper parts...

I love my Escort! It gets 35mpg on the highway. If I needed to buy a new vehicle that wasn't another truck, I'd seriously look at the Focus. I mean, as many Fords as I have owned, I can't complain about the reliability of each and every one of them. I like the way the Focus looks, and if I ever find one for $500 (what I paid for the Escort), I'll probably buy it...
Focus are good little cars now, fair amount of friends have newer ones and like them for what they are economy/commuter cars.
Myself I wouldn't own one, not b/c of reliablity issues, but I think they are ugly, plus the fact if you want the 2 door they only come in a hatchback style. I hate hatchbacks. I prefer 2 doors with a traditional trunk.
My cousin has a 05 focus and luves it. Drove with him in it pretty nice ride, good on gas, comfortable for my size, oh yeah im 6 ft 3 235, good on gas, great warranty, cheap parts, cheap monthly and very affordable at around 13g brand new. When i go to college im prob gonna buy one for the fact of there reliability good price and pretty good gas mileage. Ive been in a corrola and my cuz checked out the civic. He says there was a reason he bought the focus over the others. And the corrola I drove in was my uncles true it has 200k on it its a 2000 but he has had some isues nothing major but the car seems very tin foilly even he says the same. The focus seems alot more solid and not as cheap interior wise also power wise the focus is pretty peppie for only 135 hp. All and all its a pretty good car its also been in the top 10 best cars for 5 yrs running.
Although I don't have it in my Sig., my wife drives a 03 focus sedan and up until last week, we had no major issues. Well these are not major EGR tube broke loose, sounded like crap and put exhaust into vents and auto trunk release went bad. Next time it will not go to the dealer for service as most of the cost involved was labor. Of course this all happened at 40K out of warranty. I have a post in the general automotive about this also. I do love to drive the car on curvy roads, even with the smallest least powerful engine and an auto, it is a blast to drive. It serves it purpose well, good mileage and safe, hopefully never have to have that tested. The higher residual is only good if you are selling, not buying.

Personally I agree the focus is a cheap little ride.
I wouldn't say Ford's cars are "on the stinky side".
I just bought a 2006 Ford Fusion SEL (3L, 17" rims, dual exhaust)
It's a pretty amazing car for an entry level luxury sedan.
I also a 2000 Mercury Cougar(nitrous fed) and a 2005 Nissan Altima with
the 250hp 3.5L (detuned 350z engine). This Ford Fusion rides just as nice
if not better than both vehicles and has a superior sound system. It
handles well and runs 221hp to the crank and about 205FWHP. It comes
with a 6speed auto. It can move if it needs too. Don't count Ford's cars
out yet....I also heard they may be adding the Fusion 3L to the SVT team
like they did the Contour. Which also runs the Duratec platform like my
Cougar and Fusion.
Oh and appearantly you've never seen the dude that dropped a ford 9"
with 4.11 gears and a 351C into his focus that practically pulls his
front wheels on the street. I'll see if I can find the video. There's
also a turbo'd Focus that used to be owned by Pro-M MAF in Detroit
that ran low 13's. I consider my Cougar Ford and I don't think my
money was wasted on it. 226FWHP and 238FWHTQ small 50 shot
and basic bolt-ons. everyone has their opinion though.
