Hi all, When the dealer preped my 06 a few weeks back, they sprayed some type of "tire shine" on the tires. Well it lasted a long time, but after wshing the truck today, whatever it is, is all over the paint on both sides of the truck. Looks almost like road tar. What can I use to safely remove this from the paint without damaging the clearcoat?
Thanks
Rich
any kind of orange cleaner will make the tar just rub right off and its safe. i did roofing for a long time so tar was always part of my life and this was the most effective/safest way we found. karna klean is what we used but im sure theres others if you dont have access to this.
Try Simple Green. Use it full strength. It will not harm your paint. Spray it on. Let it sit a few minutes. Spray again, Hit it with a bug sponge. Rinse with water.
Any Bug and Tar remover will do the job but I recommend 3M 8980 or 8984 Adhesive Remover. It's very gentle to paint and will dissolve the contaminate as your wipe. You can find it in most Pepboy stores.
