HD lights

I just installed the Harley Davidison headlamps, taillamps and the Recon led 3rd brake light. Check my gallery for pics. Recon 3rd brake light is excellent in design and quailty, and I got it next day(so what if I live in the same state).

I have the HD headlights as well, taillamps are next. Did you notice a decent difference visually between the factory and the HD tails? it's kind of hard to tell from the pics. One question, did you have any problems with leveling issues of the headlights. It seems my driver's side is aiming lower than it should, definitely lower than the passenger when doing the "shine on a wall" test. Is there a way to adjust these lights other than shimming the bolt holds?

Yancey, FordParts.com has the HD heads for around $130-ish each, the tails for about $25. They're a little more expensive than what you find on Ebay, but these are real Ford parts. Some of those lights are very poorly made and I've had fitment issues with other tailights/headlights I've bought on there, as well as water seal issues. It's worth the extra money, IMO, at least for peace of mind.

stang,

Sweet ride dude! I'm leaning towards the smoked Recon light myself. How do the LED's illuminate the rear cargo area and how does the water seal appear around the light? I run my XM antenna through my rear light right now, with no difficulties. I'd hate to develop leak problems after upgrading to this light. Thanks.

got the lights from the dealership I work at-employee discount! The tails have an black background just as the fronts, the red looks a little darker and the reverse light looks smoked. The recon 3rd brake light has a quality seal, maybe better than factory. I don't think it lights the bed up quite as good as the stocker, but it is brighter, leds don't seem to be shine that much light from a distance.

How do you install the Recon third brake light? Is it just a plug-n-play connection? I unscrewed the two screws, but I cannot find where to unplug the old wiring harness and plug in the new one. Is there a trick to installing this? There were no instructions included with the light.

I just got my Recon light tonight but didn't take a look at it yet. It would seem you just pull the wiring harness out of the roof of the vehicle and plug the new one in. But are you saying there's no way to unplug the old light?

I just got my Recon light tonight, too. You would think it would be a simple plug and play connection. But the wiring does not pull out all the way and the holes in the outside roof are too small to stick your hand in there. I looked on the other forums and the install involves pulling down the headliner. If anybody knows the process, please post it.

I kind of did this when i ran my XM antenna wire through the brake light. It pretty much just pulls down, just do it carefully. When you read it, did it appear that the whole thing has to be pulled down, or just enough near the rear of the cab to allow the wiring harness to free up and be pulled out through the outside. Nice light tho, isn't it? I have a dark gray truck, so this will blend in nice with the exterior color.

just remove the push pins in the back of the headliner and pull it down a little. then you can reach in and unplug the old light and plug the new one in
