ok i got the oem light off and its harness...but now i cant clip in the recon 3rd ligjht bar into the clip in the little hole...what do you guys suggest? i would hate to hae to remove the liner and cause more rattle....
took 2 hours last night in the freezing cold and in the dark to attempt to do it. Just went outside and did it in2 sec...you have to sneak your arm under the roof liner and hook it up that way. there is no other way...chao
yes, snake the arm underneath the headliner...i spent 3 hours trying other ways, but that was the only way possible. No way in hell, unless your hand is the size of a baby, you cannot make it work...it takes 2 seconds....literally..if you go under the headliner
I noticed the headliner starting to get deformed the more i messed with it. So I pushed the wiring harness a little bit into the opening from outside, made sure it didn't rattle, then twist-tied it to the metal frame, folded the wire up carefully, and drove it over the roughest roads in my town, no rattle. Done. Looks awesome too. I'll put some pics in my gallery later tonight.
What a job! Did you get the headliner to come down? It took me 2 hours because I could not get the push pins holding up the headliner to release. After a big yank the old light finally came out. Because the headliner wouldn't release I had to hack off one of the two pins holding the plug to the ceiling. This just barely put the plug wihin reach so you could open the sliding rear window and squease your hand through the headliner. Eventually I got the two pieces to click together. I then picked up new rubber grommets from the plumbing section in Lowes - inserted them onto the screws, and screwed it back together. It looks good. I went with the smoked version to go along with my '06 Harley tail lights and headlights.

Never removed the headliner. I snaked my arm underneath the headliner. It did sort of crease the liner but it went away. No worries.
