Ok Fellers, I need some input from some of you who have built trucks one componate at a time. I've found a local 53F100 that the guy started and now he has twins on the way and wants out. I already have a 53 that needs everything but I would like to use some more modern componetes like this truck has, like 302/C4 out of a 79 T-bird, 9" out of a 60, and M2 brake master. I haven't been to see it but from the pictures and talking to the guy it looks like the body is straight and rust free except for some surface rust. The engine, trans, and rear axale are installed. He is asking $1500 for the whole shebang but he is negotiable. I have about $2500 already invested in my truck. So my questions are: should I buy this truck and sell what ever is left over? Would I save money this way or am I better off sticking to my truck and looking for these componets separately?
If I can fiqure out ho to post pictures of this truck I will.
It does sound like a pretty good price, If you combine the best/most desireable parts, sell off the other stuff, might work out well.. Likely get some more opinions here before long!
OK guys, I'm heading over to look at it today. I'll let you know the outcome. The hardest part will be convincing the warden, er, I mean GOMD that I really do NEED another truck. So we will see.
Well Boys, I didn't buy it. There was just to much missing to justify the hassle for the price. I did make him a redicuously low offer and for a second I thought he was going to take it. He said if he didn't get any offers he would call me and I suggested he put it on this forum and the classifieds or e-bay.
It's # 138822508 on Craigslist if any of you are interested. I've looked at the truck so I can answer most of your questions. Nice guy named Ben is selling it because he has a young family and twins on the way.
