oh, haha.. i was thinking 'what the heck did he do to that 3.0 to make it that fast..'
damn canadians!
jk, i think the metric system is a lot better anyway.
Haha, lets just say I had the wind at my back and the journey was mostly downhill. The metric system is pretty usefull, mostly cuz the scientific comunity uses it, and when you live it everyday, science isn't that hard! lol
I had a spurt for about a month when I had been driving for a year or so (so I guess when I was 17) where I'd drive at about 90, constantly, passing every car on the road. Not the little zig-zag crap, but like long sweeping curves as I'd go down the highway, checking my rear view every 10 seconds for any sign of the police. I still can't figure out why I ever did that... I guess it was exhilarating. This was driving a 1990 toyota celica.
Then I started commuting 40 miles round trip for high school for two years after moving to live with my mother, and I guess between sitting back and watching how all that gets you absolutely nowhere, and driving one trip with my grandpa and watching him and thinking about it all, I realized that it's just about the stupidest thing I ever did. It's plain foolish and gets you nowhere. Ever since I've been driving nice and conservatively. I try not to go much over the limit, maybe 10% over any given zone at most. On the freeway in a 65 area I go about 70-72 mostly, hang in the right lane.
Around town I take it easy, mostly. Sometimes I'll see a guy blowing by everyone like I did for those few weeks and five or ten minutes down the road, we'll get to a stop and there he is, three whole cars in front of me, the whole time working his vehicle extra hard and running such a high risk for accident or trouble with the police, all for nothing. I had a few hundred mile trip with my grandpa a year or so back, and for a while we were talking about all the people flying around the highway, and I basically told him my whole theory and all the stuff I'd observed commuting, etc.... I think he was pretty proud of me.
Anyway, that's my story... especially now, driving my F350... I just sit back and take it easy.
Dont play busted spedo either, for the love of god dont... UNLESS you can convince him that it just broke, your headed to a parts store, and you were keeping pace with traffic... i still wouldnt do it
Wont work, Myu brother got a speeding ticket on his way back from a volvo dealer to buy some sorta sensor to fix his speedo, showed the cop the reciept and part, cop said "tell it to the judge"

He either was a jerk to the cop, or was passing everybody... Or the cop was a *****, but usually theyre good to you if your good to them
I drive the speed limit and have a fair amount of tickets telling me it is the right thing to do. A lot of this is probably due to experience and the fact that I'll be too old to post here in less than a year. Aaarggghhhhh!
I like gas mileage. Or rather, saving gas money. So I usually do 60-65 on the freeway, lock it into cruise, and never look back. On the back roads I usually do 55 or so.
