You should have asked him to be quite, if he said something rude, or didn't listen, then contact a employee. At the very least you could have gotten another ticket.
People are rude about it though.
Remember the statement at the beginning of the movie, "Please turn off your cell phone, keep talking to a minimum" Apparently they didn't listen.
Still, if people don't speak up, nothing ever gets done.
I don't go to movies much anymore, maybe 1 or 2 a year. I too prefer to watch it at home on DVD.
But it's still kind of fun to see a movie in the theater (excuse me, theatre for our Northern friends!) once in a while, and a loudmouth jerk sure does ruin it. I recall one time, I was watching a movie and there were only a few people in the theater at the time so this one loudmouth's every comment could be clearly heard. I complained to the theater staff and they sent someone in to ask him to please be quite as they'd had a complaint. He looked around the theater and said (loudly, of course)
"What, there's like six people in here and someone complained?"
What, like if there's only six people trying to watch a movie then it's okay to run your mouth? I sure didn't get a discount on my ticket, it cost me the same as it would have if the theater was full.
The last time it happened the guy was sitting right in front of me. I finally leaned forward and said,
"Excuse me, I paid six bucks (or whatever it was) to listen to the movie, not to you."
He gave me a nasty look but he got the message and shut up.
With the prices of admission and snacks I hardly go anymore. Instead I wait for it to come out on DVD and watch it then. For the money you put out you should have just gone to the theater employee and tell them and they would take care of it and if they don't they will give you a free pass for another movie. I also like the drive in movies. Ours has it where you can tune to a certain station and get the sound over your radio instead of having to use the speakers on the posts. Bring your own snacks in, listen on a decent radio and watch a good movie, it doesn't get much better than that. Unless of course you get to steam up the windows a little.
