International (IH) truck forum

Even though I love my 1957 Ford 250 I also have a 1958 International but I need parts and possibly information on it. I was wondering if anyone knew any sites like this one but related to International trucks. Or Any other International truck sites that could be helpful to me. Any leads appreciated.

Unlike Ford trucks International trucks are extremely hard to find good sites on.

Gotta love the Cornbinders, could be that all the Ford diesel pickups('83ish) were/are IHC/Navistar powered; But thats a different subject.

Still, those old trucks were equiped with a rather stout block.

Does anyone know if there was a connection b/t AMC and IH gas engines? Their displacement(s) seem to often be the same. Did they share blocks? Or did they jsut happen to end up with the same displacement?

For a while in the 70's IH used a couple AMC engines, the 401 and the six, think it was the 258, might have been the 232. I know both IH and AMC had a 304, but from what I have been told they were totally different engines

The 304 IH was a an IH engine, and the 304 AMC was AMC, no connection.

The 304 family included the 194 four cylinder (half a V8), 266 V8, 304, 345, 392.

The AMC family included the 290, 304, 343, 360, 390, 401 V8 series.

The binder V8s had a high nickel content in the block, which helped in durability. AMCs also had a good nickel content.

IH used their V8s in vehicles from scouts to their large, Medium Duty and some Heavy duties. They were tough engines. Used to see lots of grain trucks (farm) and city delivery trucks outfitted with 392s.

You could also try looking at www.scoutconnection.com. These guys do nothing but IH's, and they are good.
