My ford as 710,000 k on it. It has one working dashboard light. Is it the bulbs or is it wireing? I thought it was just bulbs with that many K. But a body shop guy suggested with that many out it could be wireing.
Anyone else have the problem? What did it turn out to be?

I don't have the answer to your problem, but part of mine are out also. If you figure it out please let me know. I'm thinking it's bulbs going out. Does anyone know how many are in there and if you can change them without removing the dash?
Is your mileage right at 710,000? If so, surely that is a record amount!
Joe
One of mine is out too. Down at the far end of the speedo. It blinked for a few days then died. If I ever decide I need to drive over 100 mph AND see the speedo, I'll fix it.
That's 710,000km or 710,000mi ?
Nevermind, saw your location. Still impressive "kilometerage"

You should now be able to change the bulbs, I would raplace all 7 while you have it apart. Also clean it. You can buy the bulbs at NAPA.
Good luck, and Hope this help, if you have any other questions, just ask.
... If I ever decide I need to drive over 100 mph AND see the speedo, I'll fix it...
I have found that my SD diesel (both my former Automatic and my current manual) have fuel cuts at 94-95mph - you simply CAN"T go faster (Unless one of the chips has a method of defeating this???). Pulls strong and climbs hard to about 92-93mph and then the power drops off in a hurry and the speedo refuses to go past 95.
Don't forget that when removing the dash bezel, if you have a tilt wheel, that it can actually tilt out of the way some, had mine out a couple of times and it never dawned on me that if I moved the wheel down would have been that much easier.
Isn't the instrument panel a circuit board? If so, there are no individual 'wires'. If bulbs don't light, then it would be the bulbs, unless you get a burned circuit that opens.
Yes the backing on the panel is a PCB, however, the connections to the board are still through a fragile ribbon cable, which is just as susceptable to burning up as wires. It only takes about 20 min to get to the back of the cluster, so I would definately try butting some new bulbs in first. If the ribbon cable melted, you would definately smell it.
