'06 Dakota is UGLY!

I am a huge Ford fan and currently own 2 large Ford vehicles. That being said, I have always liked the Dodge Dakotas and think that they fill a nice niche in the mid-size truck market. They have the 4.7L V8 as an option and it flat out hauls butt. That being said, what is Dodge thinking with the new design? The '06 Dakota is the ugliest truck I have ever seen. I mean, I thought GM's new triangle headlights were ugly but this new Dakota is uglier

I agree. I had a 98 Dakota with the selectable awd which I loved. Good mid size, v-8 power. Great in the winter, easily fit into the trails, and it had a useable back seat. Unfortunately it needed almost as many trips to the stealer for repairs as the 04 f150 that I have now. However, seeing what ford has to offer, I would already have been back into the Dakota but for the heidous front end. The instant I get word that Dodge has fixed that, I'm back to Dodge. I'm sorry guys but ford just doesn't have it for me. The stealers around here won't cover almost any warranty work and the 04 needs alot.

I agree I liked the older style dakota's they were a sharp truck but since their redesign in 04 both the dakota's and durango's look like crap. The durango's look like a minivan with a small hood.

that 4.7 and auto trans behind it is why my first dakota went lemon and won. they replaced it and that was also the same problems.
the first kept blowing the heads off pumping anti freeze into the oil and looseing the trans "3 times " .the second was pumping anti freeze into the oil after 30k. so i wholesale'd it .
the auto trans well that is making a lot of money for my familys trans shop right now thats how bad it is . and in any week we can have 5 of 8 lifts tied up with dodges full size and dakotas.
sorry if i seem down on dodge. but they are good for 2 things putting them down and making money for tranie/repair shops

That front bumper reminds me of the introduction of "safety bumpers". That's the dumbest design I've seen on a new truck in a LONG time. They should have just made it 2" longer then you could atleast strap a cooler on that lip and justify the fugly.

yeah the new Dakota is something else.. they really should have just updated the last design with some HID headlights, mabey some more aggressive trim and the updated interior+drivetrain.

THAT would be a sweet Dakota.

Looking at it through certain viewpoints of light actually make it look as if it's plastic. The chunky design, and sloped hood with extremely low bumpers are disgusting.

Would you say the new Dakota is as ugly as a Pontiac AZTEC?

I think the Chevy Colorado is worse than the Dakota, but not by much.

no way, the Aztec is in its own level of ugly.

Its gonna be tough to match that vehicle.

I can't stand them either, I much prefer the prior design. It was a really nice looking truck and practical too.
