Help! I got my Toyota steering today and tried to remove the pitman arm. I used a 4" - 3 jaw puller but had no luck! I tried a little heat from my propane torch. I've never seen anything stuck on a spline like this is. Am I going to have to break out the big torch? I'm really open to suggestions.

I think I got my Pitman arm puller for about $10-12 at my local auto parts store. I've used it on my 55, my parts truck and my Toyota box. Well worth the money, IMO
I thought about using a wafer disk to split it since I plan to weld it into an arm for my truck. I just hate to do it. I guess I'll be headed for the parts store tomorrow. Another question....Why does the article on the Toyota box say to only use a later model arm on the F1? This is something I need to know before I make the arm.

Snap On has a tool that is very easy to use on the pitman arm removal. If it's off the vehicle, you can take it to a machine shop and they'll press it off.
Most of the Parts stores "Rent" tools such as the Pitman Arm Puller.
Also most do it for free, put down a deposit, yse the puller, return it and get your deposit back.
I used my die grinder and sliced the end of the pitman arm down to the splines to help relieve the pressure on them. Then I used a Quality "PROTO" puller and it came off with no problem.
Rob, I wrecked a puller trying to get mine off the Toyota box. It was on there realllly good. Ended up getting a friend who works at a dealership to remove it. They had to use heat and a press.
Success! I really appreciate the response that you get on this site. I went to the parts store and laid down 13 bucks and bought a pitman arm puller (I think I must have a tool fetish!) and put a little heat from my propane torch on it and with a loud BANG! it came loose. Everything is in good shape so I'll finish fabricating my mount and get it on the truck. Next comes the T5 tranny on the SHO engine that I just bought. We're having fun now!
