On my truck (79) I just pull on the headlight **** and it comes off of the shaft. For the wiper **** I just use a small slot screwdriver tip from a socket set. The headlight **** in my 87 has the same style latch as the wiper ****.
Thanks again men!
Thanks to jowilker's description and raol's instructions, and all the time taking due note of the advice from all of you, was able to get the little rascal off PDQ! :-)
Had such a great time with that, I decided to clean up the lense for my instrument panel only to find that it has yellowed and crazed, so guess I get to replace that too. I fought to get the light plug out of the back of the gage cluster for about 10 minutes. Guess I just wasn't intended to do things without a hammer and crescent wrench!
Thanks again to all of you who chimed in. It's a pleasure to work under the tutelage of the masters!
