Intermittent problems are hard to diagnose; try to rule one thing out at a time, don't jump around. How long has this condition existed and were there any significant events that seem to coincide with it? If the truck consistently restarts immediately it doesn't sound like ignition, but rather fuel deprivation. However, don't jump to the conclusion that the fuel pump is bad. You can test them with a pressure gauge. The pump should be putting out 4-6 psi. Pumps do go bad, but again, if the truck is restarting, I'd say the pump is probably o.k. What comes to mind is perhaps plugged filters or a dirty carb. You probably have an inline filter at the carb. Have you changed it lately? Does your truck have one of the canister type filters on the fuel pump? If so, change that. You may have to take the carb apart to clean it. I am sure some others will have some excellent advice. Keep us posted, please.[/FONT]
Does it have dual fuel tanks? If so,it might be the fuel line that comes off the tank switch. These kink and colapse over time and are "beyond frustrating" to diagnose if it's never happend to you before. It'll run perfect for a while, surge, sputter, die completly, run good again, etc.
By the way it sound s to me it sounds like you have trash in your tank. it will start run fine and then trash will be sucked onto your fuel line stopping fuel flow to your carb. Try cleaning out your tank and see if thatt helps.
