Hi out there ! We just purchased a 2000 Excursion with the 7.3 diesel. We got it from a private insurance auction, it was a theft recovery. We were taking a chance bidding on it as it had no key so no way to even know if it ran! We had a key made for it and she started right up !! Still have a few things to work out but most things seem to be okay so far( only had it a week). One problem is that the power windows don't work, from any door, they don't seem to make any noise or anything. We don't have a owners manual, so not sure which fuse or relay or what to check or where they are located. Any ideas where to start figuring this out ? Any help greatly appreciated. Also we managed to get the name of the original dealer that sold the vehicle so contacted them and they gave us the key # and the door # , the keypad lights up but again does not seem to do anything. Won't lock or unlock ? Press the two end keys to lock...doesn't. Is there any procedure that I need to know, never had a keypad door lock thing before.
Thanks for your time and looking forward to some replies.
Congratulations on your purchase you will love it!!! Try the # 14 fuse-this controls the power windows with the delayed accessory. You will need to change all filters right off the bat!-also helps with MPG. Buy a K&N air filter-cost more but is the best and all you have to do when it's dirty is clean it and reuse.
Hope this helps!
Before you get the K&N, give me a shout. I have a K&N with about 100 miles or less on it. Changed to AIS because I found my air box was cracked when my prybar slipped.
Thanks for the info. Only problem is I don't have a chart to know where fuse # 14 is. We got a printout from the Ford dealer but it does not look like our fuse box. The diagram they gave us has the 5 relays on the left and 3 rows of fuses. Our fuse bounder dash) has the 5 relays on the left and 4 rows of fuses. Also bought the Haynes manual but it doesn't show a chart either and it appears that we must be missing the cover for the fuse box. Do you have a fuse box with 4 rows, could you tell me where # 14 is.

Which box are you looking at? There is one in the engine compartment and one inside the cab. You look at the panel under the steering column and there are 4 twist screws. Take the panel off and on the left side is a fuse box with a few relays in a vertical row. It is covered by a plastic cover so take that off.
What problems I see with this vehicle at this point are
1. the power windows not working
2. the heated seats don't seem to work, haven't tried mirrors
3. drivers side rear vent window doesn't open, passengers does.
4. Door ajar light constantly on, tried WD40 but didn't seem to help
5. Keypad entry doesn't work.
I appreciate any help in any of these areas, or if anyone knows where you could find an owners manual, I guess I could order one through the dealer
I am looking at the one under the steering column. I have undone the twist screws, then the fuses are right there, no cover over the fuses. It has the vertical row of relays to the left and then 4 vertical rows of fuses. Do you think it could be the accessory delay relay or something like that ?

Fuse #14 is located under the hood in the fuse box. You will have 5 relays in the front then another row of 11 fusesfrom left to right. On the middle row of fuses # 14 will be the 3rd on down. seat heaters are #6(This didnt fix mine-a lot of people say they dont work!!).
You surely need a manual!
good luck
housedad, thanks ever so much for the link, I downloaded the manual, that will make such a difference to me learning all the ins and outs of this vehicle. Thanks everyone else to for your help, I know I will be back with more questions as we work things out. I am really enjoying this truck so far.
Thanks again everyone
Kathy
We bought this vehicle through a auction that sells for private insurance companies. It was a sealed bid type of auction. My husband deals with them on a regular basis(you have to be a business to deal with them) and when I saw this one come up I asked him to have a look at it and see if it was worth bidding on, it was, we did and we got it. It was a theft recovery. I am enjoying it. I am used to driving a Dodge Diesel Dually, but I have a Great Dane that comes everywhere with me and we live in a very cold winter climate so she can't ride in the back( canopy) as it is too cold. Now we are ridin' in style and comfort and enjoying every minute of it !! Oh yeah we are in Interior region of British Columbia, Canada. I don't know how your insurance auctions work in the States if that is where you are from.
