I own an un-restored 1949 Ford F-1 half-ton pick-up with a V-8 (8BA) engine. The engine is on its last legs and I am trying to find a rebuilt replacement. Any suggestions or sources would be appreciated.

Dennis Carpenter used to list rebuilt short blocks, I don't know if they still do. I remember hearing of a place in texas advertising them too but I don't remember the name. They are not cheap, last I saw in Carpenters a few years ago was like around $3000. Is your block rebuildable? If so you will probably be better off having it rebuilt.
Mike,
Welcome to the board!! I too own a 49 F1 but I swapped out the original 6cyl flatty for a 500ci Caddy powerplant. We typically have 2 major factions around here that argue back and forth (in a good natured sort of way) The darksiders, who are the guys who go in for the modifications of Ol' Henry's design and then there are those other guys....the guys who like to keep them stock.
They are all great people and as long as no one is foolish enough to start one of those silly Brand X is better than Brand Y arguements everyone gets along great.
When you get a chance, get some pics of your truck together and set up a gallery. There is nothing the rest of us like more than having a look at what the other guy is doing (it always helps me with motivation on my truck)

Welcome to the forum, Precision Engine Rebuilders lists a rebuilt 239 Flathead. Looks like you are in Washington state, i'm in the Seattle area so if your ever decide to get rid of that Flathead please let me know.
What exactly do you mean by "last legs"? Does it have a cracked block for sure, or does it just smoke, lack compression, etc? If it ain't cracked, it's not necessary to spend a lot on a rebuild, especially if the valves are OK. A quick bore, new pistons and rings, bearings, oil pump, and thorough cleaning shouldn't set you back any more than a typical OHV engine.
