I know alot of you must know how the fenders/wheel wells/and body rust out on these model trucks.
I was just wondering what road each of you have taken, to fix this ugly blemish?
Did you do it yourself? Did you pay big bucks to auto body it?
How should one go about doing this?
Only reason I ask this is I have access to getting a good RUST FREE bed from the junk yard! But the beds paint is crap, plus it has dual tanks, and I do not.
The rear fenders and wells are in perfect rust free shape.
If I were to go in there and take the whole bed, or possibly cut out the wheel wells and take it to a auto body shop, would this lower the price for them to do it?
I'd get the whole bed and have it painted if it is rust free. It's never the same if you cut/weld, etc. You can buy just the stamped panels if you want to cut and weld, don't ruin a good bed. The bed just unbolts.
