Can a DVD/Navigation Radio system install in a 87-91 F150 radio bezel?
Hello All!
Just wondering if anyone has installed any type of DVD/Navigation system into their truck's rectangular radio bezel.
I am looking to try to install a pop out monitor, that has the DVD and GPS type navigation...
Thanks,
TONY Z.

All aftermarket radio's are one of a few universal sizes. If you get the motorized flip out monitor type it is going to be a single DIN head unit, this is the common aftermarket stereo size, which will fit in your truck. There are also taller 1.5 DIN and 2 double tall DIN radios, those obviously will not fit.

I am by no means a master audio installer, but a nice flip out monitor would be nice... I was just curious if it will clear the radio bezel, when it motorizes outward...
Any suggestions, on which model/make to get for a 87-91 F150.
I want to make it look as stock as possible, from the front... then with the flip of the button, you get the pop up screen!
Thanks for your reply!

Ohhh, I misunderstood your question, you were wondering not if the radio would fit in the dash but if the screen would clear the bezel around the stereo... That I am not sure of, I know on the 92-96 model there is a considerable lip that sticks out and would cause the screen to need to be tilted forward to not hit the bezel... Maybe someone has a personal experience with this...

Roger. What should I do until then?
More airplane humor! I know, I know-- --but I couldn't resist!
This isn't really my area of expertise...my truck still has a cassette player (and if that dies, it'll get a block-off plate), and the only video equipment I'd want in-cab is a backup camera monitor. I've seen the units you speak of though, and most, if not all, of them will only work if the head unit isn't too deeply tunneled. Maybe there's some sort of "car kit" that would push the head unit out a little further.

Now that I think of it, I'm almost sure you could install a space around the outside of the stereo mounting housing in order to space the face of the stereo past the dash bezel. Maybe something that looks like this:
On a semi related topic. I had a stereo in my 94 F150 with an electric flip down face that had buttons on the other side. If I let it flip down too far (you could adjust how far it went) it would hit the bottom of the dash bezel... So obviously these dash's aren't designed for fancy flip up/down stereos without some modification.
