Avic-z1
1) Will my steering wheel controls still work? or would I have to purchase something?
2) Is it possible to keep the factory DVD player with the avic-z1 and have the sound
of either unit come out of the Speakers (not at the same time, only when I
choose)?
3) Will the Factory Wireless Headphones still work?
4) Will the rear Controls Still work (located on the rear of the front console)?
5) Where did you install the antenna, and is it really visible?
If there are any other problems you guys ran in to, please let me know. I am the kind of guy that usually leaves it stock, in order no to ruin anything, but I really like the navigation function.
Thanks

Oh, and great purchase! You'll love it!
ffice:smarttags" /><st1:stockticker>AVN</st1:stockticker>5495 with the 30gig HD. I just hope Pioneer has upgraded their mapping software - the older Avic's left a lot to be desired when compared to the Eclipse mapping software. To answer your questions;
1) Your steering wheel controls will work with a Pac Audio SWI-X steering wheel interface which uses an infrared signal or if the HU has the steering wheel remote input you can use the SWI-PS and have direct control.
2) Yes, it can be done if you have a good installer. When I had my <st1:stockticker>AVN</st1:stockticker>5495 installed the installer was able to keep the factory <st1:stockticker>DVD</st1:stockticker> operational, but the sound only plays through the headphones. He said with some time & some trial & error he could hook it up where the sound came through the speakers but I told him not to worry about it since the kids in the back are the only ones who use the factory <st1:stockticker>DVD</st1:stockticker> player & they always wear the headphones.
3) Yes, but to get the display to work the installer will have to tap into a power lead to get power for the display.
4) No, the rear control in the back of the center console will not work anymore. I'm going to have a game port installed where the controls were so you can plug in an X-Box. It will have a 110v outlet and an audio & video input for the factory <st1:stockticker>DVD</st1:stockticker> so you don't have to have the A/V cable running up to the <st1:stockticker>DVD</st1:stockticker> player
5) I installed the <st1:stockticker>GPS</st1:stockticker> antenna under the black plastic cowling under the windshield wipers, the long black plastic piece that the shaft for the windshield wipers stick out of. On the drivers side there is a little dead space under the cowling and I put the antenna there & ran the wires through the firewall. Completely out of sight & have had no reception problems.
You'll really like the ability to rip cd's to the hard drive, I've probably downloaded about 500 or so songs so far & it's my favorite feature about the HU. Next week I'm having the Sirius satellite radio & HD radio installed since Eclipse finally came out with the software update to be able to run it all through the head unit.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
