OK, i just bought an 04 Excursion Limited with factory DVD.
STeering wheel mounted audo controls do not work AND rear dvd only plays through headphones. From readin these threads, it seems turnign the DVD player on shoudl switch radio to DVD automatically. Is this true? The radio has a small set of headphones symbol lit up at all times, i didn't know if it was stuck in a headphones only mode? I cannot get the radio to go to dvd mode or anything like video or auxilliary. the rear mounted audio controls work, but still can't get it to go to DVD. i have tried hitting the CD button twice.
Audio does work through the IR headphones.
I am also told the DVD power comes from its connection into the radio? so that must be good.
Does the steering wheel controls connect in the same connector as the dvd? does my headunit have a problem that the steering wheel controls aren't working and it doesn't see the dvd connected? It is the in dash 6 cd changer unit.
OK, anyone at least able to point me to the part numbers for the factory radios that were compatible with the steering wheel audio controls and factory dvd?
I'm having a similar problem. I'm working on my mother's 2003 EB Expedition and the audio won't come out of the OEM dvd player through the car speakers or the wireless headphones. It's as though the head unit isn't receiving any information from the DVD player, but the radio can be played via the headphones. From what I know her player is OEM but from a 2002 model. Could there be a compatibility issue here? Hobam, what did you find out? I have checked the wiring and everything seems to in order....any insight?
