Fluid capacities & types
Hello All,
New to this forum and to old Ford trucks...I have a 1963 unibody with a 292 engine/auto tranny....
My questions:
Do these trucks (engines) use straight weight motor oil or can I use multiweight? Which one & how many quarts?
Which type of transmission fluid and how many quarts?
How about the differential?

the weight depends on the climate you live. The manual says, 10w-30 for most climates, 5w-20 for colder areas. Also says 30 weight for hot areas. I believe it holds 6 qts.
For tranny, chart says 10 qts for HD cruiseomatic.
differential shows 4.5 pints, but post your exact type to be sure.

a multiweight is the better oil , no need to use a straight weight oil. your best bet is a 10w30 or 15w40 Diesel rated oil witht he CI-4+/Sl rating on the back. the trans uses type F the diff needs GL 4 gear lube 75w140
