brake controller question

Ok, I took the plunge and bought some gauges and a under the cubby mount, because my wife said no way no how could I put pillar gauges or on top of the dash. my delimma is that now where do I put the brake controller that is under the cubby? Any ideas? Is it safe to move it to the left where the removeable panel under the dash is? I know I will not be able to see it as well there.

Me too. Tekonsha Prodigy in it's bracket. The bracket is held by velcro and a hole drilled in the cubby to accomodate the wires.

itfox LOL!!

actually i would love to have my brakesmart up on the dash so its right infront of me.

you could get the overhead gauge console or put your egt gauge in that little flat panel in the dash right of the steering wheel.

im running into the same problem with my wife on her rig, she dosnt want the pillar gauges between how wide the pillar already is and the ventvisors it makes a big blind spot there. im hoping the new mfg for the brakesmart will get the egt probe soon then i can have the egt go to that. then there will be an alarm to tell her to get her foot out of it!!

The only part about putting it on the removable cover depends on where/how you sit when you drive. I sit pretty close to the wheel and about straight up, I think I would hit the controller a lot if it was on the panel. Best place would probably be in the cubby as described earlier.

I sit close and think I would hit it, and my wife would hit it for sure. I wll have to look at putting it in the cubby. She might not like that either. She is making this very difficult. It is her truck, but it is amazing how it becomes mine when only when towing the camper.

If you only use for the controller is with the camper, you could set it up to be removable, use a piece of velcro or something to hold it on top of the dash or some type of disconnect that would hold the controller solid, but wouldn't be a huge pita to remove. If apperance isn't a huge issue what about setting up a bracket behind the panel. Simply take the panel out when towing and brake controller would be sitting right there. Do you have a pic of the gauge pod, is there enough space to mount it below the pod. In my last truck I had mine sitting vertical right by the floor. Worked out great.

I do not have a picture. I just ordered them and they will not be in until friday. I hope that I can mount them behind the gauges and just tilt it. If not I will have to get more creative. I did not think of making it temporary and using velcro. It is goung to be a busy weekend next weekend. DP tuner, gauges and riderite springs.

Go ahead and drill. Nothing in the back of the cubby unless you have a really long drill bit. You just need to penetrate it and if you feel it spinning freely, withdraw. Just like sex.

Too bad about the pillar guages. IMO that's the best place to put them and they are not in the way either.
My Prodigy is mounted in the cubby as well and fits perfectly.

Who wears the pants in that family anyway? Sounds like a case of poor training to me.
