Hi all
I found the problem with my truck today. I was having problems with the truck bucking when at highway speeds. Found the problem after replaceing a lot of parts that where good. What I found was the speedo drive gear was bad. I took it out and went up to the local dealership. It costed only $7.47 . i wish i found this out before replacing map sensor, Oxygen Sensor,Air temp sensor, and water temp sensor ,VSS sensor. There is not much left now. Well the truck is running fine now after I replaced the speedo drive gear.
I am wondering if this is my trucks problem. What engine/tranny do you have? Also did it feel like the tranny was slipping when you were barely on the gas and the engine had a load. Like going up hill?
No cruse control on this truck but the speedo was off when I would get over 20mph lets say I thought i was going 50mph according to the speedo but according to my dad who was following me told me i was going over 70mph the speedo gear did not look that bad but bad enough according to the parts guy.
the truck 1990 F250 5.8l EFI 5 speed and 4 x 4. I hope this helps.
Yeah, that's strange, I would expect maybe a problem with 1992 and later since the speedometer provides a signal itself. I thought 1991 and earlier everything was mechanical...
