"Idiot Gauges"
As when the truck is running & then the "Idiot Light/s" go on.
Yes they will always come on when you first start the truck up, as it lets you know the Lights are working & not burned out.
The "Alt." Flickering or Staying on @ low R's means that it Not making enough current & the "Idiot Light" is letting you know that.
The "Oil Presure Idiot Light" will come on when it senses Low (flicking light) or No Oil (steady light) being Sensed in the system.
In other words, something is wrong, you need to put a quart or 2 in the engine (chequing how much is needed is a good thing) as in your either burning it or you've a gaskit leak or you've bashed in you Oil Pan & are in real big trouble or you've blockage in the oil pump, screen, galleries or your oil pump is going bad (flickering) or just died (steady). Though, that's just been my experience.
