Potentiometer?

Well I just joined this fine forum in hopes of getting some ideas on making my PSD more powerfull. What I have done so far was a modified 10K mod, I used 3 diodes and a 470 ohm resister, also used the coolent temp sensor from GM and the pigtail to go along with it to make this mod removeable "just in case". What I want to do now is use a potentiometer with the 3 diodes so I can have some adjustment. If some one can point me to some sort of pic or drawing of this set up it would be of great help. Thanks

Seems the forum is reluctant to respond when the term "new user" is next to your name. Just my observation... but welcome to the forum. Quite possibly they have never heard of or seen one. www.potentiometer.com has linear, rotary, digital and analog types I think you can probably find drawings and specs there.

Welcome to FTE. No, we're not ignoring you because you are new to the forum. I just don't have a clue what you did with the three diodes. Ask me about a straight out 10k or a 2wd low range and I might have a clue.

What exactly are you trying to do with it.. if it is not directly related to the 7.3 PSD they will probably move you to another forum. Need a little more info.

You can try a search on 10k mod and read forever. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hlight=10k+mod is the first one I came up on. I like it better with a switch on the pedal so it only comes on when you mash the pedal. It idles better this way.

Your fooling the PCM by showing a different voltage drop on the ICP sensor
which tells the PCM to turn up injector pressure.A real cheap power increase method.

What im trying to do is use the potentiometer inline with a low resister to adjust the resistance, to dial in the kind of power I want when I want. But im not sure how to wire it. I have a potentiometer from radio shack # 271-211 http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062297 . Now which wire goes where?

just wire it in series with you resistor. it looks like it only has 2 wires for the pot so it should be simple. i think. also here is a link to another version of this mod. http://www.freeautoadvice.com/board/...ML/005398.html

may have to paste that to get it to work

I've got an 18k mod from blackcloud with the varible ****. Works pretty good for me. I say your looking for mods. You need to do some mods then. First do the "kwik" filter, cheap, but VERY effective. (search kwik filter to get the whole low down) Then if your on a budget put in a muffler delete pipe, serious noise and mo betta flo. If no real budget go with true 4" turbo back exhaust. Then gauges, and time for the flipper. A flip chip from Jody T. I also recommend a high pressure cross over line, and do the AIH delete. All of these mods arevery well explained in MANY other thread.
Good luck dude.
Careful of the PMS
P=powerstroke
M=modification
S=syndrome

I have done the kwik filter and CCV mod. Im going to be doing the high pressure cross over line as soon as I get some SS line and fittings, next im going to order the 3 gauge pillar from blackcloud. But right now I just want to get the potentiometer to work, its cheap effective power. As far as the "syndrome" ive had it bad since I bought my truck.

to wire the potentiometer, just wire it in series with you fixed resistor. the pot is just a variable resisitor so if you want to compound your resistance it should just be hook right in linw with the other resistor. from the pic it look to only have 2 wires so should be how you would wire it.

i think you have a power in and ground out then the middle wire will be the varied resistance. so if you want to wire it in series with you resistor the power in and the varied resistance out will be the two wire you would use to wire it in then just put ground to ground. if you have an ohm meter that will help you greatly to figure out which wires are which.

hope that helps!
fire more questions if you need to.
