I've looked through the different posts and haven't found this particular problem. My 97 Eddie Bauer 4x4(LLS front and back) pumps up way too tight, as if it were in 4-lo. It does this ALL the time--even at highway speed making it ride like a tank. Any ideas???
Could it be a bad sensor? I have rear only LLS and I had a leak about 6 mos ago. Replaced air bags and all is well. I do recall a ride height sensor, might check connections? anyone else?????
replace what is called the G E M module. that controls ride height according to 4x4 request. Some of us techs call this suspension the "hard on suspension" it is engineered to raise the vehicle 2 inches in low--1 inch in high
Sorry, ford390gashog, but my system definitely raises up an inch or two in 4WD Low. However, I don't think it makes the truck ride "harder."
This is what my owners manual states, "In 4WD Low the air suspension system will not move to its lowest height. In 4WD the air suspension system raises the vehicle above normal ride height at speeds below 40 km/hr (25 mph) to improve ground clearance. In 4WD Low do not exceed 56 km/h (35 mph).
It seems to me that mebush's problem could be related to either the height sensor or to the switch that tells it it is no longer in 4 WD Low. I wonder, mebush, if you have actually shifted out of 4WD Low by puting the truck in neutral, applying the brake, and then turning the switch to AWD or 4WD Hi. You likely did, but perhaps it is just "sticky".
