I have installed Mud Grapplers on a couple of my friends trucks. I am pretty much in love with Toyo Open Country M/T's, and the Nitto's are manufactured by their parent company... Toyo Tire and Rubber Company. I have the Toyo's on two of my trucks (38x15.50x18, 285/75/16) and have installed them on a grip of my friends trucks, they are awesome. The casings for each are made on the same machines (size for size) with just slightly different sidewalls, and of course tread design. The Nitto's are slightly noisier than the Toyo's, but work equally as well in the snow and sand. (Mud too I would imagine)
All the Warehouses on the West Coast periodically have at least a couple sizes on back order, I would try a search on the net for some Florida suppliers. I fully believe you will be enamored with them, especially if you are still running PJ's.
yea thats just it i will be driving on the road and highway wanted to know how they were in normal driving . i dont do alot of off roading they are mostly for looks . just dont want to buy them for looks if there not practical for daly driving. any one use them for reg . driving?
just a heads up.....cost me 480 to have them shipped with wheels via truck freight from ohio to cali....so double check.
free shipping from tires.com is only for tires under 70lbs, the ups limit on a tire...the MG's are like 110-120 for the tire only......if i remember correctly.
as for my experience, nothing but positive. they work FAIR in the ice, quite well in the snow for such a wide tire, beyond belief in the mud.
noise is very high.
slow speed, it feels like your driving on railroad tracks, as you speed up, the noise gets louder, and the roughness gets less.
fwiw, i will buy em again when these wear out. i am expecting 30-40k max out of them, so heads up on the rapid tire wear also.
I have the terra grapplers. The are as quiet as the factory GFgoodrich that came with the truck! Awsome tire in the snow, pavement, & dirt. Have about 12,000miles on them now & still look new! I mostly do highway driving, & dicided that the Terra's would be my best choice. Didn't want the rough ride the Mud Grappler's give. Overall best tire I've ever owned!
I am running 2 different sizes of the mud grapplers. The first is a 38x14.50x18, they are great tires but are noisy and a little rough at lower speeds. The second size is 35x12.50x20 and they are less noisy and a lot smoother than the larger ones. We have been very happy with both and I would think everything is a matter of preference when it comes to brands.
