If your batterys are old or you suspect they could be the problem, take them to an autoparts store, most any store can load test them and tell you if they are ok.

I believe there is a plug on top of the HPOP resevoir that you can take off to check the level.

Correct ....plug is allen and it's on the right and the oil pressure sensor is on the left.

Hey Kawika, It has been a while from my last oil change, and thats not like me. I did what you told me and ck'd the oil level. I'm low, really low. I'm in the process of adding oil, one quart at a time to make sure I'm not over filling. Keep you posted.

Well Cookie, I'm up to the level it's supposed to be. Yes, it was off the stick. Just tried it again, and the same response I've had all day. Just turns over with no sign of firing.

Oh-Oh.

Where is the HPOP pickup located folks. The reason I ask is that when I change oil I open up the plug & filter and let it drain for hours, even overnight, in an attempt to get out all the old oil out and not mix new with it. Thinking about this I see I could be setting myself up for trouble if my prime is lost in any of the oil pumps and doesn't return fast enough after refill. Should I quit this practice? Haven't had a problem yet. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread but I haven't had a problem restartin afterwards although I don't know if I'm damaging my pump doing this.

The HPOP reservoir holds abut 1 quart and is held in by a check valve. If you want to remove that fluid during an oil change you need to remove the small allen head plug on the top of the reservoir and suction the oil out. When servicing the reservoir, fill it to within 1" of the top.

Cookie-Where can I find the HPOP resevoir? Is it on the passenger side, or driver side?

It's right under the black plastic engine cover. Kind of gold colored.

Right in front on top. Remove the plastic "powerstroke" engine cover. Beneath that is a rectangular structure with a sensor on the left and a small allen plug on the right. Remove that plug to check the oil level.
