Whats the word on the new engines ford has lined up for the F-150? Are we going to see anything in the 350 HP range soon or a diesel or is all that stuff reserved for 2009?
have not heard too much on that. I've heard maybe a 4.4 diesel but not utill 09My I believe, and possible a 6.? gas . From I have heard we have a lot on our plate for 09MY. MInd you, this is only what I have heard, nothing is official. The hydraulic hybrid is supposed to be one of them.
Man I sure hope that they pull thier heads out of the sand and get crackin' on a 5-6spd auto, a diesel that was rumored to be in this generation, and a V8 with a stick shift.
I don't see the stick shift happening, so I suspect that my next truck will more than likely be a F250 once again.
I sure hope that the hydraulic hybird gets off the drawing board, IMO.
Calico, the Harley is just a cosmetic package. But an SVT would be sweet with this body style. I've heard that there are no plans to send this vehicle to SVT. However, there is the Roush kit ($$$$$) and an upcoming Saleen version (rumored) that looks SWEEEEEEEEEEET. I've converted my XLT to the Harley front (grille and lights) but am looking into getting the color coded bumbers off of an FX4, instead of the chrome. These are things, along with better rims, that a "sport package" may have, with maybe some mild suspension upgrades.
Well, judgeing by the fact that the tach is oly going to 5500 rpms, that's a sure sign of a diesel. Also, a column shifter that reads "PRND321" meaning at least a 5 speed in there. Nice, but get the 6.2L in there and make it have 400 hp.
no guess,I work at Dearborn Truck. We are doing a redesign for MY2009.
We are supposed to have a couple of refreshes for 07 and 08 as well( a new sport package for the xlt has been one rumor for 07 and the six speed has been another).*
*these are just rumors, please do not hold me to them. With Ford anything can change. This is just what I have heard.
Wow, forgot about that post. Nothing new for the 08. Everything goes into the 09. Whatever that may be I don't know yet.....and when I do I can not say.
I've seen the test mule photos, it's hideous and amorphous, like it's supposed to be. I wish these magazines would stop speculating on what's changing and why and just wait for the vehicle to be released. More of a surprise that way. I think Ford will do a one-up on the Tundra with the redesign. Mild, but enough to say "NICE!". Although honestly, I don't like the Tundra and don't see why it's become the benchmark of "tough truck" design. IMO.

I've seen a few of the reviews of the Tundra recently and they continue to praise mechanics but the truck is always regarded as ugly. Can't say I'd disagree...lots of forward thinking in drivetrain, but its an eyesore.
Honestly, given the market characteristics of truck buyers today I still really can't see imports ever taking that segment away. Competing maybe...but...there just something much less cool about sporting a Tundra or Titan around...it just doesn't work.
There seems to be popularity in "throwback" body styles of classic American muscle cars, (Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang, new Chevy Camaro, etc...) would anyone be interested in seeing a throwback F-150 design to the 1960s or 1970s body styles trucks? Maybe they could maintain the same level of flexibility with options like cab and powertrain that weren't available in the 70s or 60s in a new truck, but just with body styling and aesthetics of a throwback body syle. Thoughts?

a retro '70s pickup with the round lamps and the grill would be killer
