Last spring I bought a 2002 F150 Supercab 7700 with only 20K miles. It is a beautiful truck and has been flawless. My only issue is with the seats (buckets). They are not very comfortable and you can feel the steel tubing under your legs after sitting for a while. I towed a boat to the FL Keys last month and I had one sore a_ _ by the time I got there. Also in my case, they are a little too hihg for my liking as I have shorter legs than the Ford Engineers. Has anyone replaced the seats in this vintage F150 and if so, where did you get them. Does anyone know if the Expedition has a different style seat as I am under the impression they are pretty much the same truck as the F150 with a different body.
Have you tried sitting in any other trucks and see if they feel the same to you?
I wonder if maybe a power seat would be better because you could adjust the height and tilt to your liking.
Expedition seats are pretty much the same as truck seats.
For some aftermarket seats take a look at http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/seats.htm
There is a guy on another board that installed 03 up Expedition seats in his truck. Said that they bolted right in. My wife's has a 60/40 and it is one of the most comfortable automotive seats I have ever sat in.
It is funny that you ask (about other trucks). We stopped at the Ford Dealer after we went to the Home Depot yesterday. The selection of used trucks was pretty slim. The only one in my year range was an 01 F150 quad cab Lariat. It had power leather seats and they were much more comfortable than mine and the power base allowed me to lower the seat, which would help. There were a few Lincoln Navigators that had pretty commfortable seats. Sad to report that the most comfortable seat that I was able to find at the dealer was in a 04' Chevy (60/40). I drove a 1992 Chevy fullsize for 360,000 miles with captains chairs and was very comfortable. But I did not like the newer Chevy trucks and feel that the Fords are much nicer in overall appearance and the insides are nicer.
Thanks for the assistance. I will keep looking. One major restriction is that I have the supercab and the seat belt is part of the seat. Not many other modeal have that since they have door frame posts where the seat belt iis mounted.
