Lightbulb changes

I have posted a suggestion, on the Forom about comments and suggestions, about dividing the 48-56 era from the 57-60 era. As a owner of a 57 I think this would able owners to find information about there year alot faster. A 1957 Ford does not have much in common with a 1948 Ford. I am telling you this here in hopes of producing support. I think if enough of us display support I think the site designers may choose to alter parts of this site.

Please do not leave replies here, if you have an opinion go to the improvments forum.

Now you've hurt my feelings, if you would just sit down and talk maybe we could work things out.

Can't we all just get along? I have seen this idea come up a few times over the years. I am happy the way things are, but it can't hurt to ask. Jag

I have a 59 and a 60, yet most of what I have learned has come from the 48 to 56 guys. I have never not had a question answered even if it was specific to the 57/60 trucks.

We would lose much more than we gained by moving off to be by ourselves.

I do think a better division would be a 48-56 site, and a 57-66 site.

Not trying to offend just target the specific era's. I know we all love the old trucks, and can still share info.

If starting a forum from scratch, that might have been a logical way to divide things up, but FTE 48-60 has grown into a pretty unique group over the past 5-6 years and it would be a shame to split it up.
Guess you could say we're illogical and like it that way.

There`s always pro and cons but in the end this seems the better way rather then split this special group.

I've brought this up as well, w/ a negative response.
A '48-'55 Forum & a '56-'60 Forum (as the '56 & '57 share some of the same parts) would be great, as none of the posts specific to the '48-'55 trucks have helped w/ Anything dealing w/ my '58 M-100s.
Maybe a handfull of the '48-'55 crowd have owned our Orphan Years trucks & been able to help , otherwise NADA.
If you look @ the Current Venders Catalogs '57-'60, Parts & Option books for the Orphan Years trucks from FoMoCo, as well as the Master Parts Books from FoMoCo which are Titled '57-'63 or '57-'66. Those of us w/ the Ophan Years Trucks have more in common w/ the '61-'66 trucks.
It's not about Getting along, it's about finding what you need Easier, avoiding posts of no interest & not having to wade through a bunch of posts that aren't helpfull from individuals that Have Never Owned an Orphan Years truck.
The ONLY other Fix I've suggested is that ALL posts have the YEAR of the Truck Be Listed in the HEADER, so that No One has to wade through stuff this is of no help or We w/ the Orphan Years trucks are of no help to the '48-'55 crowd.
For those that have a problem w/ me, I've my Body Armour on w/ Pistole & Sabre in hand, so do your worst.

Thank you Col for clearing up my idea it's not the owners I suggested to split from, but just to seperate the two different era's.

As for the 1956 that is probally why 48-60 has always been grouped together because the 56 has as much in common with the 57 as it does with the 55.

I do atleast like your idea on a rule of including the year in your post title.

In my first post I came off as not too concerned with the idea because it did not seem to have too much steam. But I'm going on the record now: I do not think that the two seperate groups is a good idea. I want to keep the 53 through 56 models together. This is for selfish reasons. I learn a lot from the 56 guys about my 54. If the system isn't broken then don't fix it. We have the best group, in the best site on the web. Don't mess it up! Jag

I totally agree. The best solution is to include the truck year in all threads started.

I think there was a thread not too long ago about including the year of your truck when starting a thread. I always try to include it when I am asking a question pertaining to my truck, the times I don't is when I start a "progress" thread or a "general opinion" thread, otherwise I think its just common courtesy.

I have a 49, I have owned numerous Ford trucks (other than my 49's) ranging from 1959-2006 and enjoy reading all the posts. I can see how the 57-60 guys feel like orphans around here as sometimes even the 48-52 subject matter seems a bit thin compared with the 53-56 posts.

Just my opinion.......I have learned so much from this forum and enjoy it the way it is.

Please gentlemen, if nothing else, post the year of your truck when you start your threads.

Bobby

Yes I agree it would be a shame to divide up this group, However I really like the idea of a "rule" to have the year of concern posted in a threads title. I don't know what the best way to do this would be but someone please give idea/do it.
