Seat replacement

Hi guys,

I have a solid bench seat, and would like to replace it with a 60/40 with center console (child seat hits back in center, causing me to have to slide bench all the way forward when I drive with infant carrier). I have seen several aftermarket for $600-$800. Has anyone done this, and is it just a simple bolt in replacement? I think I have to go aftermarket because Ford dealers refuse, citing safety liability. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know for sure on all, but usually they mount the same. As a matter of fact, the driver's seat for a 60/40 is usually identical to the bucket ("Captain's"), and the passenger side has no connection at the hump, but is cantilevered over it.

I would suggest however, that you get the same shoulder belt mounting style (seat back vs. roof), because the seat back mounted ones have an additional floor anchor. Also, you can probably get something at a bone yard that would not only be cheaper, but also would better match your interior.

What year and model is your truck??? The bench seat and the 60/40 should mount in the existing holes.

Should be able to find an OEM 60/40 on Ebay for around $250. They use the same holes as your bench seat (4). If you go with buckets you will need to tap 4 more (2 10mm and 2 12mm) holes though plus 2 more for a center console.

Thanks for the responses. Truck is 2004 f150 heritage xl supercab with solid bench seat. I dont want buckets, just 60/40 with center console similar to those that come in xlt's. When I fold the console in center down, it makes room for infant seat in middle of rear bench to stick between seats. I had a 1999 xlt model of same truck, and worked great. I currently have infant carrier and toddler seat in truck, works just fine. I don't mind buying new, if I can find a color match (charcoal/black), but will also keep an eye on ebay.

go on to ebay and the sellers name is recycledyard. he only charges like 95.00 bucks shipping and the auctions usually end at around 350.00 to 400.00. If you cant find the seller i just type in f150 seats and it comes up with the most general search

I have a 1997 truck that had the soild bench. I replaced it with a 60/40 bench seat it is a bolt in replacement you will need 3 additional bolts. I purchased mine from a salvage yard it was a 2003 model I just got the extra bolts from the donor truck, all you have to do is cut the carpet there is a rubber plug in the bolt holes in the floor remove and install. My seat came from a regular cab I did not need one with seatbelts.

Compressorstall,

Thanks for the reply, I can feel the bolt holes under the vinyl flooring, good to know they will bolt right in. Why three additional bolts instead of four? Which doesn't bolt in the rear, driver seat or passenger bench? Right now, there are four bolts, two on each side.

One of the bolts already holds the center seatbelt in.
You will have to tap the holes though. 10mm and 12mm
