fuel leak

plowhand - the turbo does not have to be removed to change the fuel pump on a non-cali truck remove the fuel filter bowl, this requires about 4 fuel lines to be removed (i cut mine, there were factory and dry rotted) and two bolts at the base on both sides. once the bowl is removed you can access the pump. use a 1 14" box end wrench to remove the banjo bolt. if your wrench wont work it may need just a little mod, i did not have to do this but did have to try a second wrench to get at the bolt. once the banjo bolt is removed remove the 2 fuel pump mounting bolts and remove the pump. there is a tappet on the bottom of the pump, i have read on this site it can fall out, it would not be good if it fell inside the engine block. i did not have any trouble. putting everything back together should not be any trouble. the banjo bolt is a booger and the bottom fuel line is a SOB too. that is the ONLY fuel pump on the truck is the one you see in the valley. its the pump that takes fuel from the tanks to the fuel rails. there is not traditional "injection pump" on theese trucks. a fuel pump off ebay is about $80 for a new carter pump (which is factory) if its a federal truck the turbo dosnt need to come off

If your wandering what the fuel pump looks like look in my gallery it shows pic of pump on motor with turbo off so good view and lines runing to back of heads. If you replace it I would change the orings in the lines at the back of heads and the hoses that hook to it.
Hope this helps a little
