But your right, if you bought your V-10 as a daily driver you'll be disappointed. But for towing, it's very efficient for a gasser, but not that efficient.
Why disappointed?
As to efficiency, I've heard of no other GAS motor that gets the mileage the V10 does in such a heavy truck.
I'll probably get flamed, but here goes. My best mileage was 16.33 mpg. Cruise locked at 55, flat level Illinois highway. I kept records for the trip from Cali to Indy. I thought I was wrong, but Illinois was the only place we did 55. I have a snug top bed cover, K&N fipk and the back was loaded with luggage. The rest of the trip averaged about 14. MY combined mileage is right at 12.5.
On my very heavy trips there are always long sections, some time a full tank long that I get over 13 14 mpg and end the entire 1900 mile trip with a 9.2 mpg average.... in my book that is not bad for a 22,870lb GCVW.
There are a few folks here that get 14-16 mph most of the time out on the superslab. Especially with a favorable wind. (grin)
