down south I see alot of larger trucks like 450's and 550's pulling 30 foot are longer horse trailers that cost 50 or 60 grand. The trucks are usually converts from western hauler that are loaded out. If you built a four door version with airbags (for a better ride) AC , power everything, and diesel power I honestly think you could carve a nitch for yourself with these type of vehicles. It would take some time to build one but I bet you could sale all you could build. I mean some of these people can afford 20 grand just to have there horse bred.

I've been watching some of the car shows on tv, and I just think it would be cool to turn all of our hobbies in to a business. I cannot afford (at this time) to go at it, but I am hoping that after my 53 F-800's done, I will be able to auction it for anough to at least build old cars for people on the side. I would really love to build the old Big Jobs and other classic larger trucks. I think it could be a very lucrative business being able to build that custom toter that you always wanted, but just couldn't seem to build yourself. Custom classic toters made to order. It's pretty easy to install an old truck body on a semi frame.

Just today, I talked with a fellow in Md. that bought a '56 F-800 Big Job/Big Back Window fire truck. and he's going to put the cab on a late model Int. bus chassis (Very low mileage, wrecked body) and turn it into a classic rollback. Anything is possible...

Oh yeah, now that's what I am talking about. You should suggest a mid 70's Ford Louisville frame. The frames are the same width, and he can transfer his cab mounts right over. On mine, I needed to cut out the fire wall, but I ill be able to get by with about a 3" dog house. He could go with a Louisville frame, with a Detroit 6V71 motor, and it should all fit under the stock hood, with out much modification. This is the kind of work I want to do. Taking the old bodies, and putting them on newer semi frames, or other larger class frames, to build custom haulers for people, or like mine, a custom semi with sleeper and 5th wheel. Good stuff, and it appears to be a very popular choice of mod for people. I think it could make some money. If he needs any ideas, have him contact me. I've already done the research of what engine tranny combos, and what frames and suspension to use with out completely altering the appearance of the truck.
