I'm looking to buy a tuner for my truck, its a 2002 F-150 5.4, fx4 3.55 ratio. i've already added a K&N intake, and Magnaflow 3" exhaust. i'm looking to have more power obviously, but maybe to be getting better fuel economy if i keep my foot out of it. i also want to firm up my shifts i've been looking at the diablo predator mainly, but i am still undecided yet, your opinions would be apriciated

Running a chip or tuner in the performance 93 octane tune will give you more MPG's. BUT the added cost of 93 octane cancels out the benefit.
I have a superchips tuner. I like it. The tranny shift firmness is fully adjustable. I have kept it in the default tune mode. I like the firmness that it gives. Anything more would really be too firm for me. The added power is nice. Most of the power is due to the tranny holding the gear in the powerband longer before it up shifts.
Boxcar is correct. You'll even out on your fuel costs generally on the premium tune, and see no significant mileage using an 87 octane tune. With the Predator, depending on fuel quality, you may be able to advance the ignition timing a little to get a little more power (and fuel economy) than its built in premium fuel tune gets.
